MAP TA PHUT INDUSTRIAL PORT
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Map Ta Phut Port is located in the Province of Rayong, and is situated on the Gulf of Thailand on a stretch of east-west oriented coastline approximately midway between Sattahip to the west and Ko Samet Island to the east. The site is approximately 220 km by road from Bangkok and effectively faces open sea to the South.
The primary purpose of the Map Ta Phut Port is to serve the immediate needs to the petrochemical complex as well as to allow possibilities for expansion reflecting future industrial requirements.
The first stage of development includes:
DREDGING
Dredging approximately 7 million cubic metres of material to provide: an entrance channel 125 metres wide to depths of up to 10.5 metres below Chart Datum (CD): various berthing and manoeuvering areas to depths ranging from 5 metres below CD: trenches to depths ranging from 7.0 metres to 15.5 metres below CD in which to construct quay walls.
BREAKWATER
Construction of a rubble mound breakwater armoured with natural stone. The length of the breakwater is about 1.5 kilometres and it is built in water depths ranging from 3 metres to 5 metres below CD.
There is also a 300 metres long groyne built in water depths up to 2 metres below CD.
BERTHS
two berths for liquid cargoes, comprising reinforced concrete decks and individual dolphin structures supported on tubular steel piles:
a combined agricultural and mineral bulk berth (multi-purpose berth) allow for an ultimate alongside depth of 13 metres below CD and comprising concrete caissons:
a berth to accommodate harbour craft, built of concrete blocks and giving an alongside depth of 5 metres below CD.
