Bangkok Port | The Bangkok Port is located on the left side of the Chao Phraya River between km.+26.5 and km.+28.5 Klongtoey District, Bangkok. Its area is divided into 2 parts :- | Offshore Area - The offshore area under the jurisdiction of the Port Authority of Thailand begins from the Memorial Bridge of the Chao Phraya River downstream to the km.-18 in the Gulf of Thailand, about 66 km. Long. | Inland Area - The Bangkok Port covers an area of about 930 acres, 340 acres of which are inside the customs fence and used for operational purpose. The remainder comprises 51 acres operational area outside the customs fence. 30 acres for future expansion, 340 acres rental area for commercial use and housing projects, 100 acres slum area, and 74 acres used for access roads. | Under PAT's Year 2000 business plan, Bangkok Port (BKP), which currently serves mainly feeder ships, will be developed to provide faster, more convenient and more economical services. With the twin objectives of attracting new business and increasing customer satisfaction, PAT introduces several new value-added services as well as standardizes the existing services according to ISO 9002, Thai Industrial Standard (TIS) 18000, ISM Code and other internationally recognized standards. | In addition, Bangkok Port has developed computer systems applied in various work such as installing Container Terminal Management System (CTMS) at Container Terminal 1 and 2, providing advanced information for import cargoes and billing of port service charges via E-mail, establishing Vessel Information Technology Center and introducing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to communicate with ship agents on Inward Container List and Cargo Manifest. | Bangkok Port also plans to introduce the One-Stop Service to facilitate port customers in document procedures.
