| G6 carriers start to run six new Asia-Europe services in March |

Shpg Gazette 10/2/12 THE G6 Alliance carriers, comprising APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, MOL, NYK and OOCL, have announced their first batch of six joint Asia-Europe services in the first week of March. Services calling at Japanese ports will start later after consulting the Japan Harbour Transportation Association and labour unions. And the alliance said it will launch a seventh service with direct coverage to Chinese Bohai Bay ports in Dalian and Xingang when the service "can be supported by sustainable trade conditions." "We are eager to roll out our competitive products to benefit customers offering a comprehensive and increased coverage of 40 ports in the Asia-Europe market with more sailing frequency," the members said in a statement. "Customer response to the G6 Alliance is strong, the latest economic condition in the trade supports the timing of the launch, and we are ready to meet the market's expectations." The six carriers will continue the existing Asia-Mediterranean Express Service (EUM) and will kick off a new Asia-Black Sea Express service (ABX) in the first week of April. Initially, the Loop 1 service will call at Kobe, Nagoya, Shimizu, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Cai Mep, Singapore, Jeddah, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Southampton, Le Havre, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Kobe. Rotation details for Loop 2 will be announced later. For Loop 3, its rotation will include Shanghai, Ningbo, South China, Singapore, Tangier, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Gdansk, Gothenburg, Rotterdam, Jeddah, Singapore, South China, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai. The Loop 4 service calls at Ningbo, Shanghai, South China, Singapore, Southampton, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Singapore, South China and back to Ningbo. Rotation of Loop 5 will include Kwangyang, Busan, Shanghai, South China, Singapore, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Thamesport, Singapore, and return to Kwangyang. The Loop 6 service will call at Kaohsiung, Xiamen, South China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Colombo, Southampton, Antwerp, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Jebel Ali, Singapore, South China, and back to Kaohsiung. And the Loop 7 will call at Qingdao, Shanghai, Hong Kong, South China, Singapore, Salalah, Le Havre, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Southampton, Tangier, Salalah, Singapore, South China and back to Qingdao. The existing EUM service will continue to call at Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, South China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Klang, Jeddah, Damietta, Genoa, Marseille-FOS Sur Mer, Barcelona, Valencia, Damietta, Jeddah, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Busan. Another existing service, the ABX, will call at Ningbo, Shanghai, South China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Said, Ashdod, Istanbul, Constanza, Odessa, Istanbul, Ashdod, Port Said, Singapore and back to Ningbo. The G6 alliance was unveiled in late December two weeks after the announcement of the CMA CGM-MSC partnership and aims to offer one of the most comprehensive Asia-Europe services to the market with a deployment of 90 ships, averaging up to 14,000 TEU per vessel. |
