Logistics operator breaks ground on terminal expansion at Laem Chabang port

Hong Kong-based Kerry Logistics, in the midst of a broad expansion of its
Asia network, says it expects to complete expansion of a multipurpose
terminal at the Thailand gateway port of Laem Chabang by the fourth quarter.

The third phase build-out of Kerry Siam Seaport broke ground this month and
will see the addition of two 490-foot berths by September 2012, giving
Kerry 10 berths totalling nearly 5,000 feet in length.

"The expansion has been driven by growing demand across the bulk and box
trades and the new berths will help us increase capacity and efficiency
across our terminals," said Kledchai Benjaathonsirikul, Kerry's executive
director for Thailand.

Kerry last November moved its Thailand command center from Bangkok to a
site 12 miles from Laem Chabang after flooding in central Thailand last fall.

The Port of Laem Chabang last year saw throughput reached 6 million metric
tons of bulk cargo and 160,000 20-foot-equivalent units.
